A seasoned skilled practitioner with an impeccable track record on Policy Formulation, Implementation and Monitoring & Evaluation, Mduduzi started as the ANC Gauteng Policy Coordinator in 1999 and went on to provide strategic support and advice to the two Premiers of Gauteng the largest economy in Southern Africa and a Minister of Arts and Culture on Policy and Governance matters. As a Secretary of the ANC Caucus in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature, from 2004 to 2007, Mduduzi dealt extensively with issues at the nexus of public policy and legislation.
Mduduzi Mbada was born in Soweto. He is currently the Head of the Policy, Research and Advisory Services (Policy Unit), Gauteng Provincial Government, Office of the Premier. He has served as the Special Advisor on Policy and Governance to the Premier of Gauteng, Mr David Makhura (2014-2019). He has served as the Chairperson of the Steering Committee for the Inaugural Africa Investment Forum, convened by Gauteng Government, National Treasury and the African Development Bank (2018). He is a former member of the University of Witwatersrand (Wits) Council (2014-2018). He has served as the Policy Coordinator for the ANC in Gauteng, appointed by former Secretary-General Mr Kgalema Motlanthe (2000-2004). He has also served as the Secretary of the ANC Caucus, at the Gauteng Legislature, under Mr Richard Mdakane and Mr Mandla Nkomfe respectively (2004-2008). He was appointed Special Advisor to the Former Premier of Gauteng and the then Minister of Arts and Culture, Mr Paul Mashatile, 2008 and in 2010.
He holds a Degree of Master of Management, from the University of Witwatersrand (2013). He is registered towards a PhD at the University of the Witwatersrand, School of Governance. He also holds various qualifications; Higher Certificate in Project Management (Damelin) 2002; Professional Certificate in Public Management (PCPM), University of Witwatersrand 2005; Competency Certificate, in Policy Writing, Implementation and Evaluation, School of Public Management and Planning, University of Stellenbosch, 2006-; Competency Certificate in Advance Policy Implementation, School of Public Management and Planning, University of Stellenbosch, 2007; Competency Certificate on Outcomes-Based Monitoring and Evaluation, School of Public Management and Planning, University of Stellenbosch, 2008.
He has attended various courses; Certificate in Mastering Negotiations: Building Agreements Across Boundaries, from Harvard Kennedy School, 2013; Certificate in Strategic Leadership for Corporate Affairs Executive Programme, from University of Pretoria, GIBS, 2016; Certificate in Strategic Leadership for ANC Cadres (University of the Witwatersrand) 2003; Certificate in Financial Management for Managers course (Regenesys School of Public Management) 2004; Certificate in Management and Leadership Skills, (South African Management Development Institute) 2005 and Certificate in Finance Management training course, (South African Management Development Institute) 2005.
He has also served in various structures of the ruling party, from the student movements to the structures of the party.
